The Obama campaign has released a new video showing hip hop artist and mogul Jay-Z pitching for Senator Barack Obama during a special concert in Detroit, Michigan recently.
The Obama campaign released a new video on Tuesday, in which Jay-Z urges viewers to participate in the process. "I want all my people in Michigan to go out and vote," says Jay-Z. "I need you to vote November 4," he says, calling this "the most important election that will happen probably in your lifetime."
The footage from the video is taken from the rap artist's October 4 performance in Detroit.
Michigan is a key battleground state in the presidential campaign but polls show Obama with a significant lead. The state has 17 electoral votes and voted Democrat in the last 4 presidential contests. Senator John McCain recently pulled out of Michigan to spend his resources in other states such as Pennsylvania and Ohio. Michigan also has a large black population, especially in the area in and around Detroit.
Jay-Z, the former CEO of Def Jam Recordings and Roc-A-Fella Records, is also a successful businessman. He co-owns the 40/40 Club in New York and the New Jersey Nets.

"LYFE'S A BITCH UNTIL YOU DIE"-WTF
R&B singer/songwriter Lyfe Jennings was arrested Sunday on gun charges in Smyrna while trying to locate the mother of his children, police said.
Jennings, 30, whose real name is Chester Jennings, kicked in the door of a residence on Springwoods Drive in Smyrna while looking for Joy Pound, according to an arrest warrant. He fired the gun in the street and later tried to run from the Smyrna police when they arrived, police said.

He posted a $50,000 bond Monday night. Jennings could not be reached for comment. In addition to the gun charges and trespassing, he has been charged with eluding police and driving under the influence.
Jennings served 10 years in prison from 1992-2002 on a felony charge when he was 14.
Jennings music career started after his December 2002 prison release when he won the amateur contest at the Apollo five times.
His first album, released in August 2004, was titled “Lyfe 268-192,” with the numbers representing his prison number. Jennings’ biggest hit was “Must Be Nice” which was on the first album.
Smyrna police chased Jennings after receiving a call about a gunshot fired. Police followed Jennings in his red Corvette along Concord Road, where he was going about 70 mph according to the warrant.
Once he was stopped, Jennings refused a field sobriety test. The warrant said he “had a strong odor of an alcoholic b

Some rich cats showed off their Watch Phone concept during the Mobile World Congress 2008. Apparently, they want us (poor folks) all to communicate Get Smart style in the future.Not much is known about these at the moment, except that it supports voice recognition function by using Bluetooth, enabling users to make calls or send text messages without using a keypad. ATLANTA -- Lil Wayne was named lyricist of the year and Russell Simmons was honored as a hip-hop icon at this year's BET Hip-Hop Awards taped on Saturday in Atlanta.The New Orleans rapper, who was nominated for 12 awards, was also named MVP of the Year and the Alltel Wireless People's Champ at the ceremony, which was hosted by T-Pain instead of scheduled host, comedian Katt Williams.
The show featured a hip-hop matriarch medley that included MC Lyte, Yo-Yo, Salt-n-Pepa. DJ Khaled, Young Jeezy, Ludacris, Busta Rhymes, Big Boi, Lil Wayne, Fat Joe, Birdman and Rick Ross took home the award for Best Hip-Hop Collaboration for "I'm So Hood (The Remix)."
T.I. also made this year's show. The Atlanta rapper was scheduled to headline last year's ceremony, but was arrested hours before the event on federal weapons charges after he was caught trying to purchase semi-automatic guns and silencers. T.I. pleaded guilty earlier this year and is scheduled to be sentenced in March.
Atlanta factored heavily into the night's festivities, with a performance by Young Jeezy, Soulja Boy and Bow Wow. Shawty Lo was named MySpace Music Rookie of the Year.
LL Cool J presented Simmons with the "I Am Hip-Hop" Icon award, given to an individual who has made notable contributions of outstanding significance to the hip-hop community. Simmons was recognized as a philanthropic inspiration to other artists.
Atlanta rapper Shawty Lo was named MySpace Music Rookie of the Year.
The awards show will air on Oct. 23.
