Kanye West Takes On Critics Of "Heartbreak," "It Reminds Me Of My First Album When People Said I Couldn't Rap"

Despite uneven album reviews for his 808s and Heartbreak, Kanye West has come forward to reveal his intentions for the new project and speak on its impact on pop culture.

Opting out of an opportunity to speak via news sources, Ye took to his blog to discuss the diverse groups of fans who have supported the R&B-based disc. "I've been hearing that there's people who bought this album that never bought one of my albums before," he wrote (original copy was all caps). "I've been hearing that street n*ggas love it! Street n*ggas called me and told me they ove it! You know girls love it! Everybody has a different favorite!!!!" Informing readers of his intention to release "Paranoid" and "Robocop" in the near future, the Grammy winning rapper broke down his marketing strategy for the project. "I'm gonna walk this album slow like a more independent approach," he added. "I feel like a new artist...

It reminds me of the first album when everybody said I couldn't rap."Ye also recalled slight disappoint with last year's multi-platinum selling release Graduation blaming "certain records" for interfering with its potential universal appeal. With Heartbreak, he believes he may have avoided that pitfall, if people would just take the time to listen. "This is new music!" he wrote. News: DMX Arrested In Scott Storch's Palm Island Home, Faces Charges For Drug Possession & Identity Theft

DMX was arrested in Florida today after being on the lam from Arizona authorities.
According to TMZ, DMX (born Earl Simmons) was nabbed at 2:45pm today at producer Scott Storch's residence at Palm Island, an island off of Miami Beach.
The rapper's lawyer, Charles Kozelka, told the Associated Press that X has been in and out of a rehab facility in the sunshine state over the past couple of weeks. DMX missed a court appearance on last Friday where he was supposed to face drug, idenity theft and animal cruelty charges. As a result, a Maricopa County judge issued a warrant for his arrest and Arizona police authorities offered a $5,000 rewarded to anyone with information on the rapper's whereabouts.
The Feds were tipped off to his location by the Maricopa County Sheriff's office and X was arrested without incident.
DMX is currently being held in the Miami-Dade County Jail but it is expected that he will be returned to Phoenix where he'll be held on $120,000 bond.

News: Pharrell Goes Green, Transforms Bottles Into Clothes W/ New Venture

Mega producer Pharrell Williams has partnered with textile firm Bionic Yarn to help create usable products from recycled bottles.

According to All Headline News, the Grammy winning artist will become the company's owner and spokesperson as he aims to better the world by taking in plastic containers and transforming them into usable objects. "I'm so interested with the technology behind this," Pharrell said in a statement. "I am also very concerned with the environment and want to make a conscious effort to make it better. We want to provide quality fabrics that also happen to be sustainable." While various ideas are being formed, the Neptunes frontman expects to create a variety of items including wearable outfits. "We want to do everything from high end luggage, to high end denim, to university caps and gowns to Parks Department uniforms," he added. "It's a plus that the fabric brings environmentalism to a whole new level." The New York-based company claims more than 60 million plastic bottles are destroyed daily while they are capable of producing an average piece of luggae from 18 one-liter containers and a pair of jeans from seven.

News: Jamie Foxx Turns Up The Heat For New Album, Taps T-Pain And More.......

Academy Award winning singer Jamie Foxx has tagged mega rap stars T.I., Kanye West, T-Pain and more for his album Intuition, which drops later this month.

According to Billboard, the actor-turned-mega singer will look to out-do his previous multi-platinum 2005 release Unpredictable by offering fans a more fast paced project. "Unpredictable was more, like, slow bedroom things, which was great but when I went on the road we had all these ballads, so sometimes I had to work a little harder to keep people's attention," Foxx told Billboard. "[Now,] we've got all these legitimate club, international hits and the tempo is up.
People hear this record and go absolutely nuts for it." Despite collaborations with hip-hop stars like The Game, Ludacris and Common, Foxx claims he still feels like there's more to prove for the rap community. "I think people are slowly wanting to work with me more as far as music is concerned," he added. "I do run into a lot of roadblocks. I've been trying to break down those sort of preconceived thoughts that this is just a hobby to me." With guest appearances and production from addtional artists like The-Dream, Tricky Stewart, Ne-Yo, Fabolous, Timbaland and Marsha Ambrosius, Foxx plans to tour around spring 2009. "I just see something really high-energy," Foxx explained. "I see myself with Ne-Yo, out on the road, a little different demographic than what Unpredictable was. A high-energy, great show -- just hit 'em and quit 'em." the album's first single "Just Like Me" features Tip. Intuition is currently scheduled to hit retail stores on Tuesday, December 16 on J Records.

T.I. & Ludacris Team Up W/ Carson Daly For "New Year's Eve" Show

Grammy winning rappers Ludacris and T.I. have joined forces to perform on "NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly" special later this month.
According to All Headline News, the Atlanta-bred emcees will help headline Carson Daly's annual ceremony alongside performers like "I Kissed A Girl" singer Katy Perry as they welcome in 2009.
"The addition of T.I. is huge," Daly said in a statement. "Since the end of June, either T.I. or Katy Perry has predominantly held the number one spot on Billboard's Hot 100. More importantly, with T.I. we get the artist of the year to perform in primetime."
Tip and Luda are expected to showcase hits from their latest albums Paper Trail andTheater of the Mind, both having dropped earlier this year.
"New Year's Eve with Carson Daly" is scheduled to air live Wednesday, December 31 beginning at 10 p.m. EST.
In related news, Luda and Outkast's Big Boi will host next month's "Urban Ball" in Washington, DC.

McDonald's is busily remodeling its U.S. locations, accessorizing interiors with flat-panel televisions and plush chairs — even the exteriors are made of real brick these days. Now the Oak Brook, Ill., chain is turning to its packaging. In early November the king of cheap eats began rolling out new packaging across its 13,900 U.S. restaurants that aims to make the containers for its sandwiches, french fries, and soft drinks more relevant to today's consumers, and not look like a throwback to the 1990s.

The new packaging is splashed with bold text and crisp imagery. Unlike the previous no-frills white and red box, the new Big Mac container, for example, triumphantly exclaims in heavy block text, "There is only one." On one side, plucky marketing copy extols the Big Mac's height while, on another, the vegetables, cheese, and cooking utensils used in the burger's making are highlighted. The goal, says Mary Dillon, McDonald's global chief marketing officer, is to "create unique personalities for our menu items by telling a story about each one."

McDonald's is also trying to stay ahead of concerns over obesity as well as the healthfulness and safety of food supplies around the world. Full-color photographs of ingredients are intended to remind customers that, for instance, a Quarter Pounder is, indeed, made of real food. The company's iconic red, yellow, and white French fry package now features a partially peeled potato on the front. Smaller sandwiches will retain their simpler paper wrapper, though new versions are adorned with block text similar to boxed products. Says Dillon: "This demonstrates the authenticity of the locally grown ingredients we use."

Another 70-year-old in India has IVF baby

Elderly woman and her first child are both doing well, newspaper reports.
A 70-year-old woman in India gave birth to her first child, a girl, after undergoing infertility treatment, according to a report in the Daily Mail.
The mother, Rajo Devi, had been trying for 50 years to get pregnant with her 72-year-old husband, who had failed to become a father in two prior marriages. It was undetermined whose egg and sperm were used in the treatment, the newspaper reported.
Devi became pregnant through in vitro fertilization at a clinic in the northern Indian state of Haryana after doctors determined that she was healthy enough to survive a high-risk pregnancy. The mother and her infant daughter are reportedly both doing well.

News: Andre 3000 Sued For $2 Mil, Suit Alleges "Class Of 3000" Was Stolen

OutKast's Andre 3000, along with Cartoon Network and Turner Broadcasting, is facing a $2 million lawsuit for copyright infringement and breach of contract claims stemming from Andre's "Class of 3000" cartoon series.

According to the Boston Herald, local postal worker Timothy McGee alleges the "characters, artwork, storylines [and] concepts" from Dre's Emmy-winning Cartoon Network series were all based on his ideas for an earlier project called "The Music Factory." "The artist known as Andre '3000' Benjamin was credited with the creation, executive production and starring role in 'Class of 3000,'" the lawsuit reads.


"The similarities between the expression of Mr. McGee's work in 'The Music Factory' and that of 'Class of 3000' are sufficiently detailed and pervasive." While Dre's cartoon debuted November 2006, McGee claims he offered his series pitch to Cartoon Network executive Michael Lazzo in 1997 before being rejected. With both projects set in Atlanta's music scene and sharing similar characters including a "tough full-of-attitude female" character, his attorney Jerrold Neeff expects compensation. "We've requested $2 million in damages thus far," Neeff told the Boston Herald.


"The rest remains to be seen." In addition, McGee has claimed misappropriation of trade secrets and is requesting damages to including all the profits from the show's two seasons. Cartoon Network and Turner Broadcasting have also been included in the lawsuit. A rep for Dre and Cartoon Network/Turner Broadcasting was unavailable for comment at press time.

Lil' Wayne Leads Grammy Noms, Jay-Z & Kanye Trail Behind

Mega rap star Lil' Wayne leads the upcoming 51st annual Grammy Awards ceremony with a total of eight nominations.
The self-proclaimed "Greatest Rapper Alive" holds the most nods in major categories including "Album of the Year" for his multi-platinum selling album Tha Carter III.
Jay-Z, Kanye West and Ne-Yo follow close behind with a total of six nods. While Ne-Yo looks to compete with Weezy for the year's best album with Year of the Gentleman, Ye will look to bring home gold in categories like "Song of the Year" with his collaboration on the Estelle hit "American Boy."
Despite Ye's new album 808's and Heartbreak hitting stores last week, it will not be eligible for any form of recognition until the next awards show.
Fellow Chicago-bred emcee Lupe Fiasco has also been announced as a nominee this year with four nods including "Best Rap/Sung Collaboration," "Best Rap Album" and "Best Rap Solo Performance" for tracks from 2007's The Cool.
Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson snagged three nominations for "Best R&B Album," "Best R&B Vocal Performance" and "Best R&B Performance By A Duo or Group" for songs from her recently released self-titled debut.
Other nominees include soulful singer Jazmine Sullivan competing for "Best New Artist" along with Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love" and M.I.A.'s "Paper Planes" facing off for "Record of the Year."
The 51st Grammy Awards show is scheduled to air Sunday, February 8, 2009 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
